Call to Action: TFA Statement to Legislature on Governor’s “permitless carry” proposal

There are several bills pending on constitutional carry and permitless carry in Tennessee this year. TFA advocates for the adoption of real Constitutional Carry.

TFA defines real Constitutional Carry as an environment where “anyone who can legally possess a firearm can carry that firearm” and do so with minimal if any gun free zones.

There are 2 bills to be heard in the Legislature this week. One has our preferred language and is HB18/SB318. The other is commonly known as the “Governor’s bill” and is HB786/SB765. TFA believes that the “Governor’s bill” could be amended to contain language like HB18/SB318 and that this would be much better than its current language but that amendment is going to take a lot of phone calls from members.

TFA is encouraging all members and supporters to call the Speaker, the Lt. Governor and the committee members (the Senate Judiciary meets at 3pm on Tuesday March 2) to demand real constitutional carry.

To help understand TFA’s position on these bills, TFA has written statements to both committees. These statements are available for download at the links below. Please review them before making the phone calls.
